Confession #35 Who Said Guy's Can't Thrift?

My boyfriend recently went to the Apple store to purchase a desktop. When purchasing MAC computers, it is recommended you set it up in the store. Because of how busy it was, there was no available representative to assist him after he purchased it. Soon or later, the manager pulled in a representative from the back to assist him. While the representative was helping him setup the desktop, he noticed the representative never looked up at him. The rep began to fiddle around for the keyboard and that's when he notice the rep was blind.

His first thought was why out of all the customers in the store, he ended up with the blind rep. He began to get a bit frustrated. The rep never once made reference to his blindness. Once the rep began working on the computer, he handled it as if he had perfect sight his whole life. He setup the whole computer, his accounts, software, email, and more. Then it dawned on him. Here it is, a handicapped man can fully setup and operate one of the most difficult and high end computer machines with no assistance from no one.

Despite his handicap, this guy did not let it stop him from doing what he want. There is absolutely no reason for someone with full use of all his limbs and his senses to have an excuse for not pursuing their dreams or what they want to do in life.

"Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth. He who gathers crops in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son." Proverbs 10:4-5
So what are your dreams? What do you aspire to do? Where do you want to be 5 years from now? What are you doing to get there?

God wants to see you successful, as long as you have the right intentions. Take full advantage of everything and every opportunity God places in your life. This is your time. Use it wisely.

Confession #34 Spring Inspiration (1)

So Spring season is only like tomorrow and I'm overly excited about current trends new designers are putting out that we can easily look for at a cheaper cost! I'm not cheap, just like shopping on a budget! And why spend $50 on a designer blouse that I can find one similar for half the cost? I'm all for supporting designers and when I have it to splurge I most definitely will. However, for us commoners, we most times just can't simply afford to splurge as often as we would want.

Featured below is DANNIJO brand that I absolutely adore! Something new to look for the next time I shop!

"It’s a new era in fashion - there are no rules. It’s all about the individual and personal style, wearing high-end, low-end, classic labels, and up-and-coming designers all together."
— Alexander McQueen

 Is that VELVET?!

Saw these photos on another blog I came across. Sheer high neck shirts are also another fav! Why? Because you do not have to do much to dress it up or down! Easy to pair with leggins, shorts, or skirt.

Don't forget to get the fab hater blockers!

Confession #33 ‎:: Hump Day Motivation::

Quote from Dr R.A. Vernon: "
Never follow someone who's not already following someone"

Everyone needs someone they can look up to; whether it's for advice, encouragement, support, or whatever the case maybe. Especially for new entrepreneurs. Find yourself a mentor. Be careful how you choose those that you admire, follow, go to for advice/constructive criticism, or support. Following and listening to the wrong person will lead you down the right road to failure.

Have a blessed Hump Day ♥ 's

Featured below is the new and upcoming blog, Thrifty Threads, that also loves to thrift and share their compassion for Christ!

A Little bit about them:
Thrifty Threads was inspired from an article written by Domonique Davis for the non-profit organization and online magazine, www.theCorereader.com. The article entitled "Thrifty Threads" encouraged others to thrift by displaying thrifted styles; discussing money saved; and offering thrifting pointers. The positive feedback from the article ignited into a vision to create a thrifty fashion blog with a twist. So then came the TT Fashion Blog…

Confession #32 Valentine's Day Dedication

To find the ideal marriage to model or look up to is very rare these days. It seems as if society has gotten away from the meaning of marriage and what it means to love. Most of all, society has taken the most important ingredient out of what makes a relationship or marriage whole: Christ. As I stated in an earlier post, if your relationship with God is not whole, how can you expect for your earthly relationship to be whole?

Raised in a single parent home, I struggled with the aspects of the male and female relationship. Never quite understood either role in a relationship. However, what was presented to me gave me a better understanding of what I didn't want. Knowing what I didn't want still did not give me the answer to what I wanted, until the day I met this couple. Being around this couple really made me realize how beautiful love can be and it warmed my heart. They were a team, partners, role models, lovers, and most of all Christians. He respected her as his queen and she respected him as her king. It was evident that God was at the core of their marriage.

Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with ACTIONS and in truth.
  I John 3:18 (NIV)
Married for over 25 years, Donald and Doretha Heard met in 1982 in Tuskegee, Alabama. After 4 years of courtship, they married in 1986. It was not long after that their offspring began to come in the following year. They were both accomplished and did what it takes to provide for their new family. Donald received his formal electrical training in the Air Force and became a certified electrician which helped him provide and build a foundation for his family. He first began working at the VA Medical Center and soon decided it was time to open his own company. He retired at the beginning of 2011. Doretha received her degree in Nursing from Troy University. After working at the VA Medical Center as an OR Nurse, she decided to get her masters. She is now the Nurse Care Manager at the VA Medical Center in Tuskegee.

Donald and Doretha were both family oriented and created many memories that their kids will forever cherish.  Their oldest son, Dontez, shared one of his favorite memories:
"There are so many. I can remember when My dad threw my mom a 50th Bday party at our house and he invited all her Girlfriends from high school, along with a host of family and friends. She was so happy. I remember how when she would be fussing about something and he would just grab her and start dancing with her. But she would still be fussing the whole while they two-stepped and he would be laughing."
On this Valentine's Day I just want to first thank God for everything and everyone he has blessed me with. I would also like to dedicate this post to Mrs Doretha. You are an amazing wife, mother, and woman of God that I truly admire. I fought so long to find a marriage that I truly I adore and it's amazing how Gods work. People are placed in our lives for a reason. Thank you for showing me what it means to be a wife and mother. Happy Valentine's Day to you!
1 Corinthian 13:4-7 NIV
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Confession #31 Recycled Winter Trends for Spring/Summer 2012

Wide Leg Pants has always been a great trend to carry to each season. Be careful with the type of fabric chosen and choose a pair that agrees with heat. Pair this with a bright colored top and your favorite wedges.

Bow Tie Blouse is another thrifty trend that can be worn in Spring and found in many consignment shops. This would go great with a basic pair of high waisted shorts for a fab spring trend.

Blazers can be dressed up or dressed down, depending on the occassion. Better to wear when you know you will be inside like maybe for a church, dinner date or after party.

The new style of Ankle Boots are a def must for Spring/Summer. There are so many options to how they can be worn, you would be crazy to throw these in the back of the closet! Pair these with shorts, jeans, mini shirts, long skirts, dresses, wide legs! It never ends!

Confession #30 Star Status

It's amazing how many of us make new years resolutions decreaing that we are going to give more of ourselves to God than the year before and actually do good for the first few weeks of the year. We then go on a fast hoping to gain some sort of super natural blessing from God, only to go back to living life as before. Granted, we can not judge others attempt to change because we are all struggling with different issues. However, the more you are expecting from God, the more you should be willing to give.

Through fasting, we are telling ourselves no only to say yes to God, which requires sacrifice, change, and action. We have to do more than confess his word, but live by his word.
James 1:22-25
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

To conclude, do not sell yourselves short. During your fast, devote more of your time to God, become intimate with him. When you pray to become a better woman/man of God, do what it takes to become a better woman/man of God. When praying for a change in your life, be sure to reflect on yourself and let the change begin on the inside of you. When praying for a stronger and better relationship with your significant other, know that you first have to have a better relationship with God first. If your relationship with God is not whole, how do you expect for your earthly relationship to be whole?

I don't know about you, but I need God to come in and setup shop in my life. I pray this year will be a year of favor for you and me. I want EVERYTHING he has for me, good and the bad. so what ever I need to do, what ever I need to give up, what ever I need to change, Im ready.

Happy fastening and God bless!
